WiFi Extenders and Repeaters

A WiFi repeater, also known as a range extender, is a device that can help improve the coverage and strength of your wireless network. Here are some common reasons why you might need a WiFi repeater:

  1. Expanding coverage: If your pool or hot tub is far away from your WiFi access points you may experience weak WiFi signals outside. A WiFi repeater can extend the range of your existing WiFi network, allowing you to access the internet from your pool or hot tub.

  2. Overcoming physical barriers: WiFi signals can be obstructed by walls, floors, and other physical barriers. If your wireless router is located in one part of the building and you have trouble getting a good signal in another area, a WiFi repeater can be strategically placed to bridge the gap and provide a stronger signal.

  3. Eliminating dead zones: Dead zones are areas where WiFi signals are extremely weak or nonexistent. They can occur due to various factors such as distance from the router, interference from other devices, or structural obstructions. By placing a WiFi repeater in or near a dead zone, you can amplify the signal and eliminate the connectivity issues.

Many ISP's have WiFi Extenders/Repeaters available for their customers.  Here are a few links to the most popular ISPs:

Xfinity XFi Pod

Cox Panoramic Wifi Pods 2.0

AT&T WiFi Extender

Verizon WiFi Extender

T-Mobile WiFi Mesh Connectors

HughesNet WiFi Signal Booster

It's worth noting that while WiFi repeaters can be useful in certain situations, they are not always the ideal solution. In some cases, it may be more effective to consider alternatives like upgrading your router, using a mesh WiFi system, or utilizing powerline adapters. The choice depends on your specific requirements and the layout of your space.
