Troubleshooting Monitor Set Up Issues

Modified on Tue, 9 Jun at 3:18 PM

If you're having trouble setting up your Crystal Water Monitor, first ensure that the monitor has batteries installed and that the LED blinks when you press the button. If it does not, replace the batteries.

Reboot Your Mobile Device

We know it sounds crazy but we wouldn't mention it if didn't work.

Reinstall the App

Sometimes reinstalling the Crystal app from the store and logging in fresh can resolve setup issues.

Monitor Reset

Sometimes factory resetting a monitor can assist with setup. To perform a factory reset, press and hold the button until the LED blinks red. Release the button while it is blinking red to perform the factory reset.

To cancel a factory reset while the button is being pressed, continue to hold it down until the LED stops blinking. Then you can safely release the button without performing the reset.

Following a factory reset, the device will sleep. Press the button again to make the device connectable.

Android Issues

  • Ensure the Crystal app battery management is not restricted or optimized:
    • Older Android Versions: Go to Settings → Battery → Background usage limits
    • Android 16: Go to Settings → Apps → Crystal → Battery
  • Disable aggressive battery optimization. Some OEMs (Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus) have their own battery management layer on top of Android that can suspend or background apps mid-use.
  • Disable any running overlay apps like Facebook Messenger chat heads, screen recorders, assistive touch apps, or any app with "draw over other apps".

Short-Range Wireless Issues
